A 37-year-old Westmont woman was sexually assaulted and robbed in her home by a man who police believe followed her home from a grocery, police said.
The woman told police a long-haired, 5-foot, 8-inch man weighing about 165 pounds walked into her home in the 100 block of Prairie Avenue at 1:50 p.m. last Friday through an open patio door. The man might have followed the woman as she drove home from a Downers Grove grocery in the 1100 block of Ogden Avenue, said Deputy Police Chief Jerry Zywczyk.
Holding a hunting knife to her throat, the man apparently ordered the victim to the floor and threatened to kill her. He fondled her, cut her slightly with the knife, and then took $400 from the woman and fled, police said.
The woman was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
