With the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s contract with the Chicago Federation of Musicians, Local 10-208, due to expire Sunday, the two sides resumed negotiations this week after a brief hiatus. Charles Guse, the local’s president, said many issues remain outstanding, but he was optimistic a new three-year pact can be concluded soon.
A CSO spokeswoman declined to comment on the talks except to say it was hoped an accord can be reached by Tuesday, when the orchestra’s first rehearsal for the new season is scheduled.
