More than 60,000 people attended the Heartland America Family Airshow over the weekend at the DuPage Airport in West Chicago.
The figure beat last year’s attendance by roughly 20,000 people, event organizers said. It was the best attendance since the revival of the airshow in 1990.
The show featured displays of more than 40 vintage airplanes as well as performances by stunt pilots and military air teams.
The Army’s skydiving team, the Golden Knights, on Sunday honored four local veterans of the D-Day invasion by parachuting beside the veterans and handing them photos of the team.
