Village officials are investigating locations for a 2 million-gallon water tower to accommodate future growth and better serve the western area of town.
The original plan was to install a 1 million-gallon tower this fiscal year and a 1 million-gallon tower in 1998, but officials proposed doing all the construction at once. The village has four water towers.
One location officials will focus on is undeveloped land south of Irving Park Road, east of Illinois Highway 59. They also will look at undeveloped land northeast of Irving Park and Illinois 59. Officials will explore these and other sites to determine whether the areas are large enough, if soil conditions are appropriate, and whether the village needs to purchase the land.
