Firefighters are investigating a blaze early Sunday that caused an estimated $200,000 in damage to an apartment building, officials said.

The fire broke out at 3:32 a.m. on the second floor of a three-story wood frame apartment building in the 1700 block of Fayette Walk, forcing occupants from the building, according to a statement issued by the village.

The apartment in which the fire started sustained heavy fire and smoke damage and the apartment below it suffered water damage. The entire building sustained smoke damage and damage to a door, the statement said.

Twenty-four firefighters responded to the fire and brought it under control within 15 minutes, the statement said.

There were no reported injuries.
