Bullpen numbers: Through Friday night, the Sox bullpen, in its last 15 games, was 5-0 with five saves and a 1.73 earned-run average. Which doesn’t surprise manager Gene Lamont. “I liked the bullpen coming out of spring training,” Lamont said.
Changes ahead: The roster will require some adjustment when Joey Cora and Joe Hall are activated, possibly as soon as next weekend. Lamont said the pitching staff won’t trim, which pretty much leaves outfielders.
Bob Zupcic can count.
“When you’re not doing good,” said Zupcic, who homered Friday, “it magnifies it a little more because you’re not in there every day to get rid of that 0 for 4. Sometimes you’ve got to think about it for seven, eight days. You just try to keep a positive attitude.”
He began Saturday night batting .197 since his callup.
Extra: Jose Valentin’s second-inning double Saturday made night it 51 straight games in which the Brewers have had an extra-base hit. No one knows if that’s a record. But it’s interesting.
