A Schaumburg man has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated battery, unlawful restraint and robbery in connection with a beating that left a Schaumburg woman hospitalized, police said.

Bond for Richard Carlson, 19, of 126 Idlestone Lane was set at $75,000. His relatives posted the necessary 10 percent to free him after a hearing in the Rolling Meadows branch of Cook County Circuit Court, according to Assistant State’s Atty. George Straton.

Schaumburg police received a call at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday that a battered woman was walking in the area of the 300 block of North Springinsguth Road, said Police Officer Joe Sortino.

Sortino said the 19-year-old woman appeared to have been severely beaten and that she told investigators that she met her attacker at a party, left with him to walk in Hoover Park, and was beaten and raped.

She was taken to a hospital and was released, only to be admitted later Tuesday with neurological problems, Sortino said.
