On Feb. 15, Tempo profiled Carey Arnholt, who was on the cover of the annual swimsuit issue of Inside Sports magazine.
If you read the article instead of concentrating solely on the pictures of Arnholt, you’ll recall that she grew up on a farm in Ohio and modeled in Europe and Japan before moving to Chicago, where she’s a part-time model while maintaining a 3.76 grade average as a creative writing major at Columbia College.
It’s gratifying to report that she continues to do well in school and career. Last semester she earned two A’s and two B’s, and she’s now in a national TV commercial for Jockey underwear (“It’s terrible. I’m almost naked,” she jests).
She also appears in the latest Mike Nichols movie.
No, not the well-known director whose “Wolf,” which stars Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer, opened last month.
This Mike Nichols is a 26-year-old classmate of Arnholt’s. She had a part in his six-minute “Diary of a Film Student,” which, although it won’t be screened in your neighborhood mall, did win top prize in last semester’s Film Techniques II class at Columbia.
She also has been offered a role in an independent feature to be filmed this summer, and two publishers, she says, are interested in the short stories she has written about her modeling experiences and in her collection of “sci-fi erotica.”
