Germany will face either Belgium or Russia in a second-round World Cup match at noon Saturday in Soldier Field.
The opponent for the Germans, winners of Group C, hinges on the outcome of the Bulgaria-Argentina match Thursday night in Dallas.
If Bulgaria loses to Argentina-which is unbeaten and untied and has yielded only one goal-then the Germans would face Russia, the third-place team in Group B.
If Bulgaria wins or draws, Germany would take on European neighbor Belgium, which finished third in Group F after a stunning upset loss to Saudi Arabia Wednesday afternoon.
Those are the two likeliest scenarios. There are others, including a Greek victory over Nigeria and a Bulgarian win over Argentina. Should that occur, the Russians would come to Chicago.
