Village officials have agreed to spend slightly more than $9,000 on portable flush toilets, a move they hope will end complaints from patrons of pasts Heritage Fest, which this year will be June 24-26.
“No doubt about it, we are absolutely flushed with success,” said Kurt Bressner, village manager.
But officials also have come up with a novel way to invite residents to be part of the solution. For just $50 each, residents or businesses can have their names affixed to the outside of the portable toilets. The money will help defray the cost of the toilets’ rental, said Commissioner Gregory Vogel.
Village staff members have pooled their change to “purchase” one of the toilets, Bressner said. “We like to see our name in important places,” he said.
Thirty sponsors for the toilets have been found, Vogel said. Officials are hoping 46 more can be found to help subsidize all 76 toilets, Vogel said.
