Oscar night: The Du Sable Museum of African American History, 740 E. 56th Pl., presents the Oscar Brown Jr. Family in concert at 7 p.m. Friday. Oscar Brown Jr. will sing his original lyrics to classic jazz tunes by Charlie Parker and Nat Adderly. He’ll be joined by son Oscar III and daughter Maggie. Admission is $5. The Brown clan returns to the museum at 2 p.m. Saturday to present a children’s concert. Pyramid power: Nubia had many more pyramids than Egypt, and during a family program at the Oriental Institute Museum, 1155 E. 58th St., from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, families will get a chance to look at artifacts from the tombs of this ancient African civilization, including pottery, jewlery and statues that represented workers to help the deceased with chores in the afterlife. During this program for children ages 6-12, youngsters will also be able to decorate a mural-size reproduction of a relief drawing from a tomb and make their own miniature pyramid; free. 312-702-9507.

Ready, set …: A stage design by Johannes Schuetz for a 1992 production of Heiner Mueller’s “Cement” is among the works in an exhibition of contemporary German and Austrian stage design continuing in Room 842 of the Merchandise Mart through June 15.
