The village will join other area communities in a multi-jurisdictional police investigative team, trustees have said.

Willowbrook will join Bolingbrook, Burr Ridge, Darien, Downers Grove, Lemont, Lisle, Naperville, Warrenville and Woodridge in FIAT, a 15-year-old felony investigative assistance team that provides investigation services and evidence collection. The group, offers individual police departments the opportunity to rely on additional help from neighboring departments in a major crime.

Smaller police agencies, such as Willowbrook, are not sufficiently staffed or equipped to investigate major crimes, said Police Chief Raymond Arthurs.
