Sammy Sosa, struck on the left elbow by a pitched ball Friday, was replaced in right field by Eddie Zambrano on manager Tom Trebelhorn’s lineup card for Saturday’s rained-out game against Colorado.
“It hurts and it’s swollen,” said Sosa, who remained in Friday’s game. “I might be out another day or two.”
Trebelhorn, answering a fan who asked why Zambrano wasn’t playing more, said: “He’s done well, done just the job we wanted him to do. For now, we want him doing just that.”
Marvin Freeman (2-0) of the Rockies and Anthony Young (0-1) of the Cubs, scheduled starters for Saturday, will start Sunday.
Trebelhorn said he’ll be able to use a four-man rotation of Young, Willie Banks, Mike Morgan and Steve Trachsel until May 10, when he will next call on his fifth starter, currently Turk Wendell.
