A proposed budget for 1994-95 could see the village spending less money than last year.
Village expenditures could fall to $49.8 million from $50 million under the tentative plan, which includes the $5.6 million for various construction projects and the $2.2 million budget for the Downers Grove Public Library.

Officials said they will spend less this year because there are fewer village-sponsored construction projects scheduled. In fact, overall costs could have been even lower, said Village Manager Kurt Bressner, but a new tourism and economic development program will need about $360,000 for its startup.
The budget also allows for a study to determine how the library can solve a space crunch, officials said.
Village Council members are expected to vote on the proposed budget at an April 18 meeting.
