Water rates for the village will rise 18 cents per 1,000 gallons, to $2.62 per 1,000 gallons from $2.44, trustees said last week. Minimum water bills for all homeowners will be $6.55 a month, a 7.4 percent increase over current rates.
Homeowners in Cook and Kane Counties will pay 56 cents per 1,000 gallons of sewage, and the minimum monthly sewer bill will be $8.17. Homeowners in the DuPage portion will pay $1.42 per 1,000 gallons of sewage, and their minimum sewer bill will be $11.53 a month. All of the sewer rate increases reflect a 7.65 percent increase, said Finance Director Kevin Lockhart.
Water and sewer rates rose partially because Elgin, which sells water to Bartlett, increased prices this year, said trustee Marge Fostiak.
