Motorists who park near the village’s three train stations could pay up to $5 more for quarterly parking permits, officials said last week.

Under a new proposal, the cost of quarterly parking permits for Lots A, B, C, J and K near the Main Street station and Lots G and H near the Belmont Road station would rise to $75 from $70.

The cost for parking in Lot I near the Fairview Avenue train station and for parking in Lots D, E and F near the Main Street station would increase to $70 from the $65.

The proposed increases could give the village an additional $25,000 to pay for maintenance of the lots, officials said.

Prices for one-day commuter parking permits would increase to $1.50 from $1 under the plan. That increase would help pay for 12-hour electronic meters to be installed in lots near the Belmont and Main stations, officials said.

The increases could take effect as soon as July, officials said. The Village Council is expected to vote on the proposed increases Monday.
