PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEES GET 2-YEAR VILLAGE PACT

Village officials have approved a two-year contract with union employees in the Public Works Department.

The contract, which will take effect in January for the 35 members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 909, calls for wage increases of 4 percent in 1995 and 1996. Three more vacation days also will be given to employees who have worked for the village more than 20 years.

But union employees must start contributing toward health insurance premiums, and the 2 percent bonuses they have been receiving upon reaching their maximum pay scale will be eliminated.
