A Bellwood man wanted in connection with the theft of more than $100,000 from a bank in Chicago last week was arrested over the weekend by Deerfield police as he drove along Lake Cook Road, police said Monday.

Arrested on the 1400 block of Lake Cook Road Saturday night was Cornelius Myers, 29, of Bellwood, after Patrol Officer Geoff Ruther traced his license plate and found out that he was wanted by the FBI in connection with a bank theft Friday, authorities said.

FBI spokesman Robert Long said Myers had walked into the Lakeside Bank, 2268 S. King Drive, Friday evening wearing an Illinois Armored Car Corp. uniform. After Myers, an ex-employee of the company, was handed a bag of money by a bank employee, he walked to his car and drove away, Long said.

After Myers was identified, the FBI sent out a stop order on his car, Long said. Most of the money has been recovered.

Myers was being held without bond Monday in the Metropolitan Correctional Center.
