“The Earth Club Live!” a musically-mixed concert featuring 14 Chicago-based groups performing everything from Irish flute tunes to songs of the Andes will be presented from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Chicago Cultural Center.

The concert, sponsored by the Friends of the Chicago Cultural Center, is free and open to the public, and seating in Preston Bradley Hall is limited.

Stuart Rosenberg, a musician and producer who was the host of a radio program called “The Earth Club” on WBEZ-FM, will host the event.

Among the groups performing will be Ghanatta, a West African dance band; Michael Zarang and Hamid Drake, who play Middle Eastern music on hand drums; Howard Levy, on jazz piano and harmonica; Art Thieme, singer of traditional Midwestern songs; Willy Schwarz and Miriam Sturm, an accordion and violin duo; and Patrice Michels-Bedi, a regular with Music of the Baroque.

Others will be Kathleen Keane, Irish flutist, formerly of the Drovers; Jamie O’Reilly and Peter Swenson, singing “ballads of heart and soul”; Raices del Andes, an ensemble playing music of the Andes; folk singers Jim Post and Michael Smith; jazz violinist Johnny Frigo; the Golden Fleas, Chicago’s last radio orchestra; and Maestro Subgum and the Whole, intriguingly billed as “Captain Beefheart meets Kurt Weill.”
