With Zion-Benton having lost to Lake Forest Friday night to give Mundelein the North Suburban title Friday night, there wasn’t much pressure on the Mustangs Saturday night.

All that’s left is fifth-ranked Mundelein’s hope of concluding a perfect conference season.

Mundelein took another step toward that goal with a 75-67 victory over visiting Warren to improve to 22-1 overall and to 14-0 in the league. Kyle Kessel led the attack with 28 points, and Sean Stackhouse added 22. Thad Miller finished with 10.

“They played good defense, but we got too much into a half-court game,” Mundelein coach Dennis Kessel said. “I think they’re a very good team. And we’re still out to prove we’re a No. 1 team.”

Mundelein led 57-44 after three quarters, but Warren started the fourth quarter with a 12-2 run to cut the deficit to 59-56 with 3 minutes 32 seconds left. Then Kessel and Stackhouse combined for 14 points down the stretch as the Mustangs held on.

Warren, which missed two front ends of one-and-one situations in the final three minutes, was paced by Jeff Woods’ 22 points. Joe Bongratz added 13.

Lake Park 61, Larkin 53: Even when No. 15 Lake Park allowed Larkin within two points late in the third quarter, the Lancers (19-2, 12-1 in the Upstate Eight) didn’t worry.

“The fourth quarter belongs to us,” Lake Park coach Gary Burke said. “We have some variations on our offense against the man-to-man, and we used some of those in the fourth quarter.”

Py Sander led Lake Park with 18 points, Nick Vitellaro added 17 and Matt Hoder chipped in 13. Marza Omercajic led Larkin (7-16, 1-12) with 19.

All three contributed in a fourth quarter that saw Lake Park use five steals and outscore Larkin 20-16. The Lancers went 8 for 9 from the line down the stretch.

Lake Forest 61, Antioch 50: Edward Cage’s 23 points led Lake Forest (12-12, 6-6) to the North Suburban victory. Eric Santa added 15 points and Ben Moss for 10 points.

Eric Eckenstaheler led Antioch (5-17, 1-3) with 15 points.

East Aurora 54, Streamwood 53: Brandon Kopf’s jumper with :23 left lifted East Aurora (9-11, 6-6) to the Upstate Eight victory. Tyrone Williams led the Tomcats with 16 points, while Sean Harris added 15. Kopf finished with four points.

Notre Dame 42, Joliet Catholic 41: Jeremy Schoenecker’s 14 points led Notre Dame (16-6, 8-3) in the East Suburban Catholic.
