Barrington sectional: Waukegan finished with five sectional champions and qualified seven wrestlers for state. Top individuals included 135-pounder Dan Collins of Palatine, Hersey 103-pounder Marc Zehr, Waukegan’s Isaac Hood and Lake Zurich 189-pounder Shane Goss.
Goss (20-4) edged Cary-Grove’s Shawn Bellanca 3-2 in the title match to hand Bellanca his first loss in 41 matches.
Collins, the defending 130-pound state champ, improved to 37-0 with a 6-4 title-match victory over Fremd’s Ryan Ewanio.

“Last year nobody expected me to do anything, because I came off a broken ankle,” said Collins, who also has 25 pins. “Now people are out to get me, and that gets me more focused.”
Zehr improved his mark to 34-2 with his 103-pound sectional title, while Hood notched a pin as one of the five Waukegan sectional champions.
Stevenson qualified a school-record three wrestlers for state, including 152-pound champion Brett Pyka.
