The City Council has agreed to meet with three architectural firms this month with the idea of hiring one to design an expansion of the police station.
Police officials are recommending hiring LZT/Filliung Partnership of Glen Ellyn because of the firm’s experience in designing law enforcement facilities, particularly the new Oswego Police Headquarters.
“We were very impressed with the building, the way it was laid out,” said Lt. Dennis Anderson. “They designed it with plenty of room for future growth.”

Although the project was proposed in late 1991, aldermen are just now poised to grant the department’s request to expand its cramped headquarters at the north end of the Batavia Government Center, 101 N. Island Ave.
Anderson said the department needs additional jail cells, lockers, office space and parking. The cost of the project is likely to run into the millions of dollars.
