Atty. General Roland W. Burris sued Amoco Chemical Co. Thursday, charging that the company improperly managed hazardous waste at its two Joliet landfills.
The suit, filed in U.S. District Court, charges that Amoco failed to contain the leakage of benzene, toluene, manganese and other hazardous substances at its 26-acre site on the Des Plaines River, according to a spokesman for Burris’ office.
The suit also alleges that Amoco violated water pollution laws.
