Police do not consider foul play likely in the death of a 45-year-old man whose body was found in his van Sunday.

Robert P. Brock, manager of the Comfort Suites Hotel at 17 W 445 Roosevelt Rd., apparently slept overnight in the van, police said.

Brock had been celebrating his birthday Saturday night at a nearby bar and at the hotel, according to Oakbrook Terrace Police Lt. John Carpino. Sometime early Sunday, investigators said, Brock left a party to go out to his van.

“He was trying to cool off an argument he was having with a female companion,” Carpino said. “Rather than stay in the room and have it escalate, he went to sleep in the van.”

Carpino said friends checked on Brock periodically during the night and asked a hotel employee to call police when he did not respond to them shortly after 7 a.m.
