LONGTIME FIXTURE IN VILLAGE DECIDES TO CALL IT A CAREER

Orlo Benson, the village’s original public works employee and a recently elected trustee, resigned Tuesday because of his and his wife’s health problems.

Benson, who is in his 70s, retired in March as director of public works after 35 years with the department. The longtime Bartlett resident was the first and only public works employee when he started with the village in July 1958.

Residents interested in filling the remaining 26 months of the four-year trustee post may send letters and resumes by Feb. 15 to Village Clerk Linda Gallien, 228 S. Main St., Bartlett, Ill., 60103.
