Two men charged with first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of a 16-year-old girl and a 23-year-old man pleaded innocent Tuesday at a hearing in the Rolling Meadows branch of Cook County Circuit Court.
Terrance Lamont Thornton, 21, and Tyrone Maurice White, 18, both of Elgin, were indicted on 24 other counts in connection with the shootings in a house on the outskirts of Elgin on Dec. 29.
Police and state prosecutors said the two men, who are cousins, killed Courtenay Hayworth, 16, a junior at Larkin High School, and Arnie Olsen, 23, at Olsen’s home in unincorporated Cook County.
Thornton and White also were charged with wounding Chris Fay, Hayworth’s boyfriend, police said.
Police had said the shooting was in retaliation for a drug deal.
