The couple that laughs together, baths together (OK, so that’s not a very good line, but you get the idea). And that’s a great description of Romie Angelich and Peter Moor.

The two have been married since 1990. They also have been mainstays of Chicago’s comedy scene for several years, as well as frequently traveling to colleges and clubs across the country.

Angelich and Moor have also performed on the same bill, as they are doing this weekend at Double Exposure in Oak Brook.

Hmmm. Two standup comics in the family. “We pretty much got married for the financial security,” cracks Angelich, 29, a comic since 1982.

Angelich, who has been seen on the Arts & Entertainment Network’s “Caroline’s Comedy Hour,” as well as in a film short featuring Judy Tenuta, says the two usually perform together an average of about six weeks a year. And both say it’s no problem appearing on the same stage at the same time.

“Usually we try to squeeze extra money out of the booker by saying that we only need one hotel room,” jokes Moor, 30, who began his comedy career in Chicago about five years ago.

The two, when working together, don’t make it a rule to mention that they’re married to each other, although they have let the crowd in on that fact.

“I think if whoever’s going on first doesn’t have a great show, then it makes sense not to tell them,” says Moor, reasoning that the audience then might not like the second one either.

“If it’s seems like a big lovey-dovey crowd, if a bunch of dates are out, then they kind of like it, I think,” he adds.

And then there’s the question of material on being married. Angelich will mention that she is hitched to a comic and then do material more about being married in general, instead of about whom she’s married to.

Moor does jokes about the wedding, but not about his wife, “probably because we get along pretty well, and it wouldn’t be that interesting for me to be standing up there and say, `Well, we get along.’ Conflict is funny.”

The two eventually would like to veer more toward writing and performing for television and other entertainment mediums. They’re working on a script, and Angelich has written a play that has been produced.

“I always have been leaning towards being a writer more than a performer,” says Angelich. “Pete and I often talk about this. I think way off in the future, Pete would love to be on a sitcom or something like that, and I would love to write one.”

Personally, the two have also talked about having children, “and I think we’re both more or less waiting for some break that gives us a little more financial freedom,” Angelich says. And if the little one wants to follow Mom and Dad’s punchlines?

“Whatever they want to be (is fine),” says Angelich. “I would hope they would find something that they enjoy doing as much as we enjoy doing comedy.”

As of now, however, there is no little headliner waiting to come to the stage. But if that happens while Moor and Angelich are appearing together, Angelich says it’s definitely “going to be a triple bill.”

Romie Angelich and Peter Moor are co-headlining at Double Exposure (1909 Spring Rd.-Hyatt Oak Brook Hotel; 708-573-7888) Friday and Saturday. Call the club for show times and reservations.

The standup lineup

Funny Firm (318 W. Grand Ave.; 312-321-9500): Andy Kindler, who has been on “The Arsenio Hall Show,” will be telling great jokes that half the crowd won’t get through Sunday. Kinetic Barry Sobel is the headliner next week.

Laugh Factory (4395 Fox Valley Center Drive-Fox Valley Mall, Aurora; 708-978-2800): Frank Miles is in the spotlight this weekend. Making special appearances starting on Wednesday is Rich Hall, of “Saturday Night Live” fame.

And . . . Appearing at All Jokes Aside (1000 S. Wabash Ave.; 312-922-0577) this weekend is James Stephens III, a former cast member of Fox-TV’s “The Edge.” Stephens also has been seen on Fox-TV’s “Comic Strip Live” and HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam.”
