Police said Thursday they were still seeking a teenager who drew a gun in the Blackhawk Recreation Center, 1685 W. Higgins Rd., during a quarrel over a basketball game and threatened other teens.
Lt. Earl Maurer said the dispute between two groups of teens at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday had moved into the lobby when one youth pulled a semiautomatic handgun.
The youth pulled back the slide on the gun, which is necessary to put a round in the chamber, pointed the gun at a youth from the other group and said: ” `Don’t touch no one! No one gets hurt! Back off,’ ” according to Maurer.
The youth with the gun also waved it in the air before he and two companions ran into the parking lot. Witnesses said they heard a shot from the parking lot, but police were not sure if the gun was fired.
Witnesses gave the police the name of one youth who had earlier been with the teen who waved the gun.
While seeking that companion in the 1700 block of Marquette Lane, police came upon a car reported stolen from Rolling Meadows and arrested three unarmed young men inside. Two were juveniles and were released to their parents. The third, James Adams, 19, of 1908 Kenilworth Circle, Hoffman Estates, was charged with criminal trespass to an auto, Maurer said.
