The city’s population could grow by as much as 50 percent over the next 21 years before Geneva runs out of land to develop, according to a staff forecast released this week.
Describing the potential of Geneva, community development director Michael Donahue said there could be 22,500 residents by the year 2015.
“This number is based on the current densities we have in the current comprehensive plan,” Donahue said. “The number is going to max out at some point and that’s going to be it.”
A special census last summer found about 15,000 people calling Geneva home, about 3,000 more than were counted in the 1990 U.S. Census.
