player ready...Wellness House, a support facility for people with cancer, has opened in new facilities in Hinsdale after 2 1/2 years of planning and donations from builders and suppliers.
The $1.5 million building at 131 N. County Line Rd. that opened this week is a non-residential center that provides free counseling, lectures and support groups.
The group split from the national Wellness Community in September to broaden its services. “We want to put a greater emphasis on family and friends of those who have cancer,” said William E. Walker, executive director.
A benefit premiere of the movie “My Girl 2” will be held Feb 6. at Loews Pipers Alley, Chicago, to raise funds for Wellness House and Altenheim of Forest Park, a long-term health care facility serving the elderly.
Anna Chlumsky, a Chicago-area resident and star of “My Girl” and its sequel, will be present at the pre-screening party at Loews.
