Tinley Park continued its success over Sandburg at the Tinley Park gymnastics invitational Saturday, scoring 144.6 points to edge the Eagles by 2.4 points.

The victory marked the fifth time Tinley Park has bested Sandburg in competition this season, either in dual meets or invitationals.
“We’re both so good that if one team has a fault, it opens the door for the other team,” said Tinley Park coach Paul Caldwell.
Stacey Walski and Jamie Meyers got Tinley Park off to a good start in the vault-the first event for both-finishing first and third, respectively. Walski also finished first on uneven bars and tied Stagg’s Courtney Burke for all-around honors with 37.1 points. Meyers finished third at 36.3.
GIRLS BOWLING
Fenton Invitational: Elgin’s Heather Goddyn and Lake Park’s Kristin Glin staged an individual battle, and their teams followed suit. Goddyn, trailing Glin by 23 pins entering the final game, rolled a meet-high 267 to win the individual title, but Lake Park used depth to win the team title.
Besides Glin’s second-place finish, Mary Anne Leonido (sixth) and Mandy Weissert (ninth) posted top-10 finishes to help the Lancers’ team total of 5,396 pins. At one point, Glin marked in 26 straight frames.
Elgin finished with 5,387 pins, led by Goddyn and Carrie Jacobsen (third place).
BOYS SWIMMING
Hinsdale Central Invitational: Stagg won the diving invitational with 24 points, edging Schaumburg by one point. Kurt Beckering’s fourth-place finish with 344.80 points led the Chargers.
Kankakee’s Ryan Lee won the meet with 402.25 points, almost 20 better than runner-up Jason Minner of Andrew.
WRESTLING
Lisle Invitational: Sandwich won four weight classes and notched three runner-up finishes to cruise to the team title with 181 points. Lisle was second with 151 1/2.
Jay Friese, third at state last year, earned most valuable wrestler honors by winning the 112-pound title. Dave Thielk (103 pounds), Chain Nguyen (119) and Brad Schindlebeck (130) were Sandwich’s other titlists.
