Gail Dunham, a former township supervisor who was running for a seat on the Du Page County Board from District 5, announced Thursday that she is withdrawing as a candidate in the Republican primary in March.

Dunham said she did not have the time needed to run for the board because of her involvement in other activities, including efforts by the group Citizens for Airport Reform to seek legislation that would allow for the election of members to the Du Page Airport Authority Board.

Dunham’s decision leaves three candidates in the race for two seats-incumbent board members John J. Case and Robert A. Heap and challenger Patricia Nevitt.

In District 4, Glen Ellyn resident Betty Lewis also withdrew as a candidate in the Republican primary, leaving a four-way race for two seats.
