Though there is snow on the ground and the clubhouse is still unfinished, the Du Page Airport Authority already is expecting fiscal good news from its latest venture.
The airport authority’s preliminary budget for 1994 projects a healthy $554,000 surplus in the operation of the controversial Prairie Landing golf course, which is expected to be ready for play in late May or early June.
The golf course is budgeted to make a profit this year, though it will be up and running for about 80 percent of the season, airport commissioners were told during a committee meeting Wednesday night. The authority board is expected to adopt a tentative budget next week.
The preliminary budget calls for new expenditures this year of about $18.8 million and total spending of $21.4 million, which includes funds committed but not spent last year. Both figures are considerably lower than last year’s spending.
Commissioners noted that no new projects or acquisitions were planned for the coming year.
