Police believe they have solved three more of the recent rash of supermarket holdups in the suburbs with the arrest of a 26-year old Arlington Heights man.
John Kapadoukakis of 1501 E. Central Rd., Arlington Heights, was arrested by Chicago police last Friday. He has since been positively identified as the holdup man in robberies of Dominick’s stores in Schaumburg, Norridge and River Forest, police said.
Kapadoukakis has been charged with the armed robbery of the Dominick’s at 580 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg, on Dec. 27, according to Schaumburg Officer Jeff Potnick. Kapadoukakis has also been charged with the armed robbery of the Dominick’s at 7500 W. Forest Preserve Drive, Norridge, last Wednesday, said Norridge Detective James Jobe.
Investigators said these holdups appeared to be independent of a larger group of holdups of supermarkets on Chicago’s north side and in the northwest suburbs. A Chicago man has been charged in seven of those.
