Sheriff’s police were questioning two suspects Sunday in connection with the fatal shooting late last week of a 16-year-old girl and a 23-year-old man in the man’s house outside of Elgin.

The two male suspects were picked up in the Elgin area Sunday afternoon, and were taken into Sheriff’s Police Headquarters in Rolling Meadows for questioning, said police spokeswoman Sally Daly.

Police would not release their identities or discuss other details about their possible involvement in the case.

Courtney Hayworth, 16, a Larkin High School student, and Arnie Olsen, 23, were shot to death at Olsen’s home, 1308 Summit St., in unincorporated Cook County late Wednesday, police said.

Police called the shooting “a calculated” attack by at least two men who entered the house through a side door, and likely knew the victims. Police said they hadn’t ruled out drugs as a possible motive.

Olsen’s sister, Cindy Olsen, said Sunday that her brother was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Visitation for Olsen and Hayworth will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin.

Funeral services for Olsen will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Hayworth will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
