Jeannie Hinkey made sure the women’s basketball team won its first two games of the season in style. The sophomore from West Aurora High School averaged 22.5 points per game and was named tourney MVP as the Golden Eagles won the title of the Buffalo tournament last weekend.

Hinkey, a 5-foot-8-inch forward, scored 28 in a 71-66 semifinal win over Akron last Friday. The Golden Eagles (2-3) romped 83-65 over the host school in Saturday’s final. Hinkey was named the tourney MVP. Senior center Pam Osterbrink joined her on the all-tournament team.
