A local man has been charged with an additional count of reckless homicide after a second elderly woman died from injuries she suffered when her car collided with a truck the man was driving while allegedly drunk.

Assistant State’s Atty. Charles Johnson said Monday that Benjamin Tilton, 36, was charged with reckless homicide for a second time after the death of Wilma Turner, 68, of Round Lake. Killed instantly was Turner’s passenger and longtime friend, Lupe Albright, 69, of Lake Villa. Tilton was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

When police arrested Tilton, they found a cooler filled with beer and several empty beer cans in the truck’s cabin, authorities said. Tilton tested at nearly twice the legal limit when he was given a Breathalyzer test several hours after the accident at the police station, authorities said.
