Police said they obtained an arrest warrant Monday for a 32-year-old Glen Ellyn man accused of starting a fight at a vehicle emissions testing station last Friday that left three people injured.
Two of the injured were a commander and a patrolman for the Elk Grove Village department, and the third was a state inspector.
The warrant charges the suspect, identified as Peter Hessing, 2 N 562 Prairie Ave, Glen Ellyn, with aggravated battery, misdemeanor battery, criminal damage to property and resisting arrest, said Sgt. Gordon Hollywood.
The criminal damage to property counts stem from damage to a computer monitor that Hessing allegedly threw at the state inspector, injuring her hand, and damage to a police car, Hollywood said. State officials said Hessing’s car, a 1983 Pontiac, failed to pass the emissions test four times in the last two months.
Hessing signed himself into Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Elk Grove Village, for a psychological evaluation after the incident at the emissions testing station at 2450 Landmeir Rd., police said.
Hollywood said police intend to wait until Hessing leaves the hospital before the warrant will be served.
