The widow of a resident killed in a February 1990 head-on collision on the Tri-State Tollway will receive a $1.25 million, if Illinois State Toll Highway Authority directors vote next week to pay a $100,000 deductible to their general liability insurer to settle a lawsuit filed by the woman, Meredith Lucius.
Lucius was injured and her husband, Christopher T. Lucius, was killed in a three-car crash.
The Luciuses’ southbound car was struck by a northbound pickup truck that had vaulted over snow piled against a center median. The snowpile was created by workers hired by the state to clear the road.
