A 25-year-old village resident drowned over the weekend in Wisconsin after the raft in which he was riding capsized, authorities said.

David L. Dover, who was part of a 40-member church group from Arlington Heights, and a female companion were riding in a raft on the Wolf River when it became wedged against a rock, other group members told authorities.

The raft overturned and dumped Dover and his partner into the water as they struggled to dislodge the craft. Dover’s life preserver slipped off and he was swept away, police said.
