Toni Kukoc, the Croat expected to sign with the Bulls this summer, will undergo a tonsillectomy next week.
The Bulls did not say where the operation would take place, but said the condition had been discovered this week when Kukoc took a physical in Minneapolis.
“Toni has had tonsil problems that have affected him the last couple of years,” Bulls General Manager Jerry Krause said in a statement.
Kukoc, a 6-foot-10-inch swingman, was the Bulls’ second-round draft choice in 1990. His team in Italy, Bennetton Treviso, has given him until June 10 to declare whether he’ll be returning or joining the Bulls.
