General Manager Ron Schueler says the White Sox are still looking for pitching help in a possible trade, but, then again, so are a lot of teams.
“We’re looking for pitching in general-a top-quality starter or a left-hander,” he said.
The Sox are deep in young but mostly unproven pitching talent. They have been looking for an established starter since spring training.
They could need a left-handed reliever at some point if Chuck Cary is unable to come back.

Cary, who pitched in Japan last season, made the team with an impressive spring training but got hurt throwing from a misshapen mound in Las Vegas during the final exhibition series. He made three appearances and had a 12.27 earned-run average when he was put on the 15-day disabled list April 20.
Coming home: George Bell ended a bizarre streak in the first inning Thursday when he singled home Frank Thomas from second base with two outs. It was the first time this year that the Sox have had only a runner at second base and singled him home. They have had runners at first and second and singled home the run. And they had five extra-base hits and 12 walks with runners on second. But, in 72 tries with a lone runner at second this season, the Sox never singled until Bell did it off Mike Boddicker.
Late scratch: Ellis Burks was a victim of the 2:55 rain delay. He was scheduled to start his eighth game in a row, but his lower back and hip tightened. He was replaced by Dan Pasqua. Burks, who played in only 66 games with Boston last season because of a bad back, spent the entire game in the trainer’s room getting electronic stimulation on the muscles.
