Before passing the budget, the council cut several items, including a half-time convention bureau position, saving $25,000; $125,000 from the convention bureau contingency fund; and $6,000 from the $40,000 salary of a new finance director, not yet hired.
The council also approved adding $200,000 to its contingency fund.
