Board member Audrey Nixon (D-North Chicago) said the board should do anything it can to help financially troubled North Chicago School District 187.
The school board voted Monday to close its doors this fall and send 4,300 students to surrounding districts. The $1.5 million would absorb the school system’s anticipated operating deficit for one year, Nixon said.
