Joe Murphy refuses to kid himself, which is a good sign. He knows everyone is waiting for him to bust out big time. Just as he realizes some may be disappointed by what they see.
“I’m not going to please everybody,” the Blackhawks’ right wing said. “You can’t please everybody. I just want to live up to my own expectations. Get the job done and play well.”
He has had an encouraging nine games since the trade with Edmonton, scoring six points (three goals) in nine games. But he understands more will be expected.
“I plan to be rolling by my 20th game and the playoffs,” Murphy said. “I want to skate more with the puck. I’m better when I handle the puck. I’ve got to fit my game within the system they have here of dumping the puck, forechecking and cycling with the puck.”
