A longtime local resident was killed this week by highway bandits in a resort town on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, officials at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City said Wednesday.
Wayne Rogers, 73, was driving along a highway Monday afternoon in the state of Jalisco when he was attacked and shot in the head, authorities said. His wife, Elena, was shot in the ankle and was being treated at a hospital in Manzanillo. No further details were available through the embassy Wednesday.
