Last Aug. 26, Tempo documented the significant role Chicagoans were playing in Bill Clinton’s campaign, starting at the top with David Wilhelm, national campaign director (who headed Richard M. Daley’s two successful mayoral campaigns).

Totaling more than 20, they outnumbered those from any other state except Arkansas. Benefiting from the political axiom that winners get government jobs, almost all are in Washington. A roll call:

Amy Zisook, co-director for campaign finance, is special assistant to the president for public liaison.

Avis LaVelle, campaign press secretary, is the nominee for assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services.

Mark Doyle, director of campaign advance, is deputy director of White House personnel for priority placement.

Matt Smith, campaign press aide, is special assistant for communications at the Democratic National Committee.

Jay Gertsma, campaign regional coordinator, is an assistant for legislative affairs at the Department of Defense.

Jay Footlik, a campaign aide in regional liaison, is in the Democratic National Committee’s political section.

Patti Solis, campaign scheduler for Hillary Rodham Clinton, is the first lady’s director of scheduling.

Lucy Naphin, campaign assistant to Solis, is Wilhelm’s scheduling director.

Anne Elliott, campaign aide in the political constituency section, is a public affairs aide at the Department of Energy.

Clarissa Cerda, campaign budget officer, is special assistant to the assistant to the president for management and administration.

Jose Cerda (Clarissa’s brother), a campaign aide for domestic policy issues, is a staff member for the White House Domestic Policy Council.

Pete Dagher, campaign liaison with state and local constituencies, is deputy political director at the Democratic National Committee.

Angelynne Amores, campaign press aide, is being considered for a job as assistant to LaVelle at Health and Human Services.

Kim Tilley, campaign aide to Mrs. Clinton for issues, is associate director of research for the first lady’s office.

Eric Payne, campaign aide in the policy issues section, is White House staff assistant for communications and research.

Katie Broeren, campaign advance section, is a public affairs assistant in the Small Business Administration.

Rocco Klaps, campaign advance aide for Mrs. Clinton, is an assistant for constituent liaison in the Democratic National Committee.

Jeff Forbes, campaign field coordinator, is the committee’s Midwest political director.

Between gigs:

Degee Wilhelm (wife of David), a campaign aide on the Clinton plane, is contemplating her future and serving unofficially as first lady of the Democratic National Committee.
