– The Illinois Institute of Technology is sending 10 swimmers to the NAIA National Championships, Wednesday through Friday in San Antonio, Texas.

Sophomore Scott Ternovits, a Lake Park High School alumnus, leads the way for IIT. Ternovits qualified for nationals after recording a time of 1:49 in the 200 freestyle earlier this year.

Freshman Kevin Honan (a 1:01 qualifying time in the 100 breaststroke) and freshman Larry Jukes (a :54 time in the 100 fly) are among the other IIT swimmers who qualified for the event.

IIT coach Dennis Matuch, in his 26th year, says this year’s team is probably the deepest he has ever had.
