An Arlington Heights man accused of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl left in the care of his wife was arrested Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Suresh Shah, 44, of 616 W. Central Rd., was taken into custody by Arlington Heights and Mt. Prospect investigators and charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault in the Feb. 18 molestation of the child, according to Mt. Prospect Sgt. Dick Draffone.

In the first of two incidents last month, Shah allegedly assaulted the girl at his Arlington Heights home after she spent the night with him and his wife, who authorities said had been baby-sitting the child for “a couple of months.”

A few hours later, Shah dropped off the child at the Church of the Nazarene day-care center, 1501 S. Linneman Rd., and molested her in one of the facility’s public restrooms, Draffone said.

The alleged incident did not occur while the girl was involved with or supervised by any of the center’s employees.

Authorities said they were told of the incidents by the child’s mother, who noticed that “something dramatic had happened to her girl,” Draffone said. Shah was being held late Tuesday on $50,000 bond.
