Lake Park outscored No. 18 East Aurora by 15 points in the fourth quarter Saturday night to pull off an 82-74 Upstate Eight upset in Aurora.

“No question it’s our biggest quarter of the season, just a monster quarter,” Lake Park coach Gary Burke said. His team posted 38 points in the period.

“We played with great confidence,” Burke said. “They tried to hold us, but everything we were doing seemed right. We just focused better, didn’t worry about crowd noise and concentrated on basketball.”

Brent Murdock scored 29 points with 15 rebounds, six steals and four blocks for Lake Park (11-10, 6-7). Mike Benhart added 16 points and Matt Hoder 14.

Warren Brookson led East Aurora (16-5, 10-3) with 23 points. Booker McKinney added 16.

Maine West 80, Elk Grove 62-No. 3 Maine West (20-2) rolled, with four players scoring in double figures: Scott Haack with 17 points, Brian Johnson 14, John Vana 12 and Garrett Larkin 11. Larkin added 11 rebounds. Maine West started the game with a 7-0 run, added an 8-0 run later in the period and led by as many as 30 points in the second half. Jeff Demos and Trefon Demos scored 11 each for Elk Grove (5-17).

Thornton 67, St. Joseph 53-The third quarter was the difference for No. 4 Thornton in a non-conference victory at home. Michael Allen and Ahmad Fields each scored seven in the third quarter, when Thornton (20-1) outscored St. Joseph 21-7 to take a 48-34 lead.

Allen finished with 27 points, while Fields totaled nine. Anthony Winburn and Rodney Horton each scored 17 for St. Joseph (13-9), which got no closer than 49-36 in the fourth quarter.

Oak Park 77, Hinsdale Central 55-Jabari Hearn scored 18 points and Jamal Edwards 16, including eight in the first quarter, when No. 8 Oak Park (20-2, 9-1) took an 18-11 lead in the West Suburban Silver. Ramone Jones added 12 points, Mike Amrhein 11 and Derek Archer 10 for Oak Park. Colin Shaunnessey led host Hinsdale (8-14, 4-7) with 11 points. Brian Musso added 10.

Waukegan 62, Woodstock 50-No. 20 Waukegan (17-6) went on a 15-1 run to take a 60-46 lead in the fourth quarter of the non-conference game. Nick Browder led Waukegan with 18 points, Manuel Stutts added 13 and Ronzeyl Newsome 12. Each scored four points in the run. Chad Erwin paced Woodstock (16-7) with 19 points and seven rebounds. Guss Axelson scored 13 points with seven rebounds and Brian Weiskopf added 10 points.

Conant 51, Streamwood 48-John Wray popped for 14 points and Darick Loving 13 to propel Conant (17-5) in non-conference action. Matt Walsh scored 14 for Streamwood (13-9).

Hoffman Estates 64, Jacobs 62-Brian Wayer’s 20 points, Jayson Kohn’s 13 and Steve Raethe’s 11 powered Hoffman Estates (9-12) to the non-conference triumph.

Lake Forest 82, Antioch 64-Rico Stringer scored 33 points, and Josh Lerner and Kevin Jordan added 11 apiece as Lake Forest (17-6, 11-3) built a 35-26 halftime lead and coasted in the North Suburban Conference. Jeff Woods popped in 29 points and Doug Gooch 13 for Antioch (5-19, 2-12).

Maine South 49, Wheeling 31-Maine South (9-13) got 12 points from Steve Johnson.

Palatine 64, Highland Park 61-David Saunders sank two free throws with :02 left for Palatine (18-5), led by Tony Harvey with 22 points and Marc Boone with 20. David Klow scored 28 for Highland Park (14-8) and Matt Ledford added 11.

Warren 69, Mundelein 67 (OT)-Mark Leginski’s only points of the game came on an overtime buzzer-beater and carried Warren (14-8, 9-5) in the North Suburban Conference. Ryan Taylor finished with 29 points and Scott McGruder 13 for Warren. Cal Kessel tossed in 13 and Gerald Coleman 19 for Mundelein (14-8, 9-5).

GIRLS

Batavia 67, Somonauk 30-Tracy Lootens scored 24 points as Batavia improved to 20-4 with the non-conference victory.
